Bow Wow Wowzers 3,500 doggies

About 3,500 pure bred dogs have gathered with their people for the annual  show of shows -  it's the 'Westminster Kennel Club' annual dog show that will determine 'Best in Show' by late tonight.  The 146th Westminster begins at 6:30p from the Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown, New York -- being held outdoors for the second year in a row now instead of the traditional venue at Madison Square Garden due to Covid complications.   Last night Winston the French Bulldog won the Non-sporting Group, River the German Shepherd took the Herding Group prize.  So next up for this evening will feature  the Toy Group, Hound Group and Working breeds.  You can watch on Fox or stream on Peacock. Fast food market to hit over 800 Billion -

Within the next 6 years....  Bloomberg Business reporting  increases in on-line food delivery apps and e-commerce websites are the main factors driving industry wide growth.   Add to those metrics-  a rise in disposable incomes and a rapid globalization of the food industry creating a market wide expansion to come around the world.   The U.S. fast food and so called 'quick service' restaurant markets expected to reach $263 billion by 2025 and exceed the $800 billion mark by 2028.  Major US fast food chains are expanding their delivery networks and improving online ordering systems,  all to capture more from consumers who increasingly value convenience and technology. How much water do you really need?

Social media posts now have people drinking a gallon of water a day - Do you really need that much?  Dehydration a common cause for ER visits but now TikTok has multiple posts with fads surrounding how much water we need every day.  One trending hashtag #gallonofwateraday encourages users to drink one gallon of water, or 4.5 liters, of water per day.  The National Academy of Science actually recommends 3.7 liters per day for men, 2.7 per day for women. Here's one simple way to check if you're properly hydrated; pinch the skin on your lower arm -- if it bounces right back - you are all good to go -- if it's slow to return you may need water.  Tips for healthy hydration from the pros - stagger your consumption throughout the day and drink water with your meals as it aids digestion.  And - let's maybe leave TikTok for the fun stuff and other sources for the serious ;)

Dramatic increase in stranded drivers

AAA says they're experiencing a huge up-tick in road-side assistance calls from drivers across the country running out of gas.  So - what gives?  Well according the automobile club most of their feedback seems to be motorists who can no longer afford a full tank of gas for their routine fill-ups.... so.... they're only putting in small amounts to get where they absolutely need to be.  According to AAA so far this year more than 200,000 have been stranded on E-  So far this month alone over 450 calls and counting daily.  Skyrocketing gas prices now fueling more roadside assists and more work for AAA road crews.  The experts say it is not good to let your car run out of gas because it causes other issues and can cause your car to not function properly even after you fill her back up.


Boat Burn Bad for Buddies

The first mainstream drone deliveries about to begin

Amazon confirming this week they are ready to offer deliveries through Amazon Prime Air. It will use drones to drop off packages weighing less than 5 pounds for customers eligible under Prime Air.  Amazon predicts thousands will use the service; you receive an estimated time of arrival and status tracker for your package.  Delivery drones will descend into your backyard and once it gets low enough the drone releases the merchandise and flies back off home.  First customers to receive the option will be in California but the program is predicted to expand quickly nationwide.  Wow - the future is now!
