Fisher House Foundation is dedicated to taking care of our nation’s wounded, injured, and ill service members, veterans, and their families. The Foundation ensures families can be a part of the healing process. Because we know a family’s love is good medicine. Fisher House Foundation is a network of 100 homes away from home where families of wounded, injured, or ill service members and veterans can stay at no cost for as long as the treatment plan indicates.
Since 1990, our impact on military families has been profound:
o 100 Fisher Houses operate around the world
o 570,000 military and veteran families served
o 13.4 million days of free lodging offered
o $690 million in savings to families
o On any given night, more than 1,400 families can be accommodated
o Four-star rating on Charity Navigator for 22 consecutive years Beyond our Fisher House doors: other ways we support our military and veteran community.
* Hero Miles: Uses donated frequent flyer miles to provide airline tickets to wounded,
injured and ill service members and their families in support of their continued recovery
process.
* Life doesn’t stop for military families when a loved one is in the hospital.
Children need to be raised and bills still need to be paid. The Hero Miles
program allows families to travel back and forth as often as they need.
* Eliminates the barrier of transportation.
*Hotels for Heroes: Uses donated hotel points to provide free hotel rooms to military
and veteran families whose loved ones are being treated when a Fisher House is either
full or unavailable.
*Fisher Service Awards For Military Community Service: recognizes innovative programs
for military and veteran communities. The Fisher Service Awards provide a total of
$400,000 to be divided among the top applying nonprofits. Each award winner will also
receive an advertising package valued at $75,000 from Military Times. Since the
program began in 1999, it has distributed more than $3.8M across 215 nonprofit
programs.
