French Baguette Joins Prestigious List –

UNESCO – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – has recognized the French bread or baguette as an integral part of global culture.    The U-N body defines cultural heritage as ‘traditions or expressions inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants’.  The baguette now joins such culinary giants as Kimchi, Belgian ales and Arabic coffee and world heritage sites like the Statue of Liberty, Yellowstone and Philadelphia’s Independence Hall.  The Observatoire du Pain in Paris estimates more than six billion baguettes are baked yearly by boulangeries across France.  Bon Appetit!
