Country Music Icon Loretta Lynn Dies at 90 –

Music legend Loretta Lynn has passed away at her family home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.  The statement from her family reads, ” Our precious mother passed away peacefully in her sleep early this morning at her beloved ranch.”  Lynn was the mother of four.  She started her career in the early 1960’s and was Nashville’s first prominent woman to write and record her own music.  She ultimately became one of the first female musicians to start generating her own hits.  Known for her elaborate floor length, hand beaded gowns with intricate embroidery and rhinestones — Lynn’s name became synonymous with her biggest hit and commercial success, ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’.   No word yet on any possible funeral or memorial arrangements – her family says details will be forthcoming.
