As I begin a new chapter in my life that doesn’t involve daily manual labor I have found myself trying to adjust to the computer age. When you work outside you can pretty much ignore the constant advancement in office technology, you don’t need an app to run a shovel or rake.
Now I am infront of a computer screen for the better part of my day and I have to start from square one, on my first day when Potter told me to save something in my desk top and I said, “I have no idea what youre talking about”, I knew I might have a problem.
I was so proud of myself when I figured out that folders in a computer are just like folders in a Trapper Keeper, a folder in a folder. I have figured out some stuff, such as computers don’t respond well to being kicked or yelled at and I think that’s pretty good progress for now. Im glad to join everyone else in 2013, if you need me I’ll be on the interweb!
What was your biggest adjustment when starting a new job?
