In maybe the weirdest story of the year apparently Manti Te'o had the wool pulled over his eys or at least thats what he would have us believe when he was told his online girlfriend had died of leukemia.
It was the ispirational story of the year when the linebacker went on several sports talk shows telling how a day after his grandmother passed away he recieved a call from his girlfriends brother saying she lost her battle with leukemia. The media grabbed on to this story and it shot Manti to fame, as sad as it was it got sadder when he recieved a call from her cell phone and the woman on the other line said it was all a hoax.
Details are still being released and Manti is scheduled to speak to the press today, so far he has only said that he is "embarrassed by the sick joke", A very sick joke indeed especially if he was in on it. Speculation says he knew all along and used it to catapult himself to fame, while others say he was just a nieve individual who trusted too much. Click here for updates on this story.
