The Dixie Chicks are getting back together for 2 country music festivals in Canada but don't hold your breath for any new music, they dont have plans to do any new recording in the near future.
Lead singer Natalie Maines said "I just dont feel like it's the Dixie Chicks' time," and "I feel like things were tainted permanently. So I struggle with going out on five Grammys or petering out."
In 2003 the Chicks took a lot of heat for saying they were "ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas" during a London concert resulting in death threats and radio station bans. I can totally understand why they are done recording and performing regularly, counting money and accepting awards can be exhausting.
Is it better for a musical artist to go out on top or fade out?
