If you have a poor memory, it doesn’t mean you’re not smart. It most likely means you had too much going on at once, and that’s why exact details of events escape your memory.
Matthew Perry recently said he can’t remember anything about 3 seasons of friends due to alcohol and other drug use. I’ve never did alcohol or other drugs growing up, and I can’t remember much about high school or anything else prior to about 22.
Science says poor memories come from information overload. Perhaps I don’t remember much because of the massive amount of activities I was participating in, and also having a severe childhood disease probably took a large toll.
